Memorial Weekend

We were able to get a lot done with our three day weekend, but really only crossed off a small portion of our to-do list. We have two big flower beds in our front yard and spent a lot of Saturday tranforming them from a weedy garden into a nice plantable area. Jared borrowed a rototiller from a friend, which helped a lot in this process. The next step is doing the same thing to the entire backyard! We planted some little flowers, but still haven't done any of the actual landscaping with trees, shrubs and such.
We were excited to buy a flag and hang it up for Memorial Day.

We planted our garden this weekend also. It actually didn't take that long since it was just one tomato plant and a couple squash seeds in pots. We're sad we won't be able to have a garden this year, but hopefully we can still grow a couple of tomatoes. Plus, we live close to Kevin and Lisa now and we're sure they'll share their crops! :)

We finally got Mackayla's headboard painted and it looks much better in her room with it there now.

We bought the kids their first squirt guns at Walmart and they think they are the greatest things ever!

Jared is now working with the Webelos scouts. He and Mackayla both look so cute all dressed up!

Bradley wouldn't take a nap the other day, and then right before dinner he just layed down on the floor and went to sleep.

Bradley is now getting to participate in more of our school/craft time and always loves the projects.

We've been living in our house for over a month now! It's definitly feeling like home, but we still have lots of work to do. We decided to hurry and get the back yard done, but Jared is going to be SO BUSY at work for the next month that it might not go as fast as we were hoping. Along with a bunch of big estimating projects he has to get done, they also have four homes in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes, so he has to work many shifts (mostly at nights) at those homes for the next couple of weeks. :( I'm excited to get to see the Magleby homes though, especially the one that Jared was the project manager for and has spent a lot of his last eight months working on.

I've told Bradley a few times at church, during the sacrament as he takes a piece of bread that the bread helps us think about Jesus. This last Sunday, Bradley ate his bread and I hadn't mentioned anything about it that time. He started looking all around the chapel and hollaring, "JESUS??? JESUS, WHERE ARE YOU??? JESUS???" It was pretty cute and we couldn't help but laugh.

Finally, a video of Bradley dancing and singing one of Papa's favorites. Enjoy!

PS - Next post will have a spotlight of Mackayla and some of the funny and intelligent things she does or says (In case you felt bad because she appears neglected in the video - she really isn't!).

Love the flowers and the flag. Your garden is bigger than mine so far! We are looking forward to Mackayla's video in a few days.

I have a very similar picture of Jackson when he fell asleep on the floor while playing when he was about Bradley's age. It's one of my favorites. I wish those occurrences would still happen! So sweet. Glad you got some family time before the big upcoming month.

Bradley sure is a cute little dancer! I am impressed that you are still doing school and crafts in your third trimester and after just moving. I'm relying mostly on Sesame Street to educate my kids these days. Your yard is looking great!

Not to worry. We're growing the crops! Come over tomorrow. This is your formal invitation. Whatever time you want, head on over.
