David Clyde Jones 1925-2008

As many of you know, my grandpa passed away last month (September) on the 16th. It was pretty unexpected, which is never much fun for family members, but is probably the prefered way if you're the one that has to go. Anyway, he was truly a wonderful man who will be genuinely missed. Following are some pictures of him, and some of our family during the time of the funeral. We love you Grandpa!

David C. Jones was born May 19, 1925 in Virden, NM. He served as a communications officer in the U.S. Navy during the end of WWII and throughout the Korean War.

What a handsome sailor!

He married Iris Brown in the Mesa, Arizona temple after serving in the central states mission. Iris also served in that mission. When she finished her service, they continued to correspond until David returned home. They were married a lengthy four months later (I believe it was 4 months).

Grandpa left us a legacy of love, faith, and BYU devotion. This is a picture of the last time that we saw him in person. It was my graduation in April. He wouldn't miss it!

The family had this BYU flower arrangement made for his funeral. I don't know that there was ever a bigger BYU fan.

The viewing was very nice. Melissa said that it reminded her of our wedding reception in Arizona. The guests just kept coming through the door all night long.

The ten living grandsons (two preceded him in death) were the pallbearers.

Military Honors - How neat!

Goodbye Grandpa. We love you!

The day before the services, we took family pictures at the temple. Nearly all of his posterity was able to be there. We haven't received the group picture yet, but will add it in later. Here are some other fun pics.

Uncle Jason with the kids.

Our lovely family. We met at Melody's for dinner the first night we were there.

I am so sorry to hear about Grandpa Jones. The flowers were beautiful! Mackayla and Sophie look so cute in their matching dresses. That last picture, Melissa looks silly and Mackayla looked like she was crying.

In the last picture I thought Melissa looked like Heather!

I'm glad you were able to go to the funeral and visit with so much family. That BYU flower arrangement really is cool.

How great to have such a wonderful example. And although funerals are sad, it is always wonderful to be with family and see how much one person can impact generations to come.

April, is that because everyone tells me to open my eyes and so I open them?
