I'm a little late getting this post up but a couple weeks ago we went on a spontaneous overnight camping trip. Jared had put in a LOT of hours already that week so he took off Thursday at noon, we packed up and headed up American Fork Canyon for the night. We came home Friday morning and Jared headed back into work for the afternoon.
Hanging out at the camp sight
Of course the kids' favorite part of camping is being in the huge tent. We had plenty of space and two big air mattresses but by about 2am in got REALLY cold. We were trying to keep the kids warm and I ended up stuck in a terrible position, freezing to death. I classified it as one of the worst nights of my life. My neck was so stiff by morning I couldn't even turn my head at all. It was all worth it though because of the great adventure and memories we shared as a family. Right???
The kids each took turns cutting up some fire wood for us.
We climbed all the way up this huge rock!
Going to roast marshmallows. It wasn't cold at this point- we were just trying
to cover as much of ourselves as possible from the mosquitoes.
Right after we set up our tent and were getting everything situated in there, we heard a huge noise and saw a big cottonwood tree 10 feet from our tent fall over. Obviously it fell the other way or I wouldn't be here writing this now. It was pretty creepy. Some of the camp
attendants came running over to see what had happened. They thought we would
probably be
ok since it looked like most of the trees were leaning away from us if they were to fall also. I thought maybe we should leave at that point, but Jared said we would just say a lot of prayers and keep on camping. :) Here is a picture of the broken stump that was left.
We went for a little hike Friday morning before heading home.
Breakfast
That Friday night we were invited through Jared's work to see the Cars2
premier. It was a very exciting event.
We wanted to take some pictures of the boys in some big trucks for a project we were doing for their room. We got to spend some time playing in all the Magleby trucks!
